I usually tend to spotlight visual artists, but I want to tip my hat to the young writer as well. Writing isn't my biggest strength, but I like to think I know enough to recognize good character development and writing and such, so here we go! Also, this guy DID design the cover himself, so that counts as visual art (BUT I HELPED SLIGHTLY).
This is one of those rare cases where I didn't meet this person in Alaska, because I should probably stop riding that for all of my artistic contacts. In this case Taylor is a personal friend BUT, I'm objective enough to only highlight people who I actually think are good artists. SORRY OTHER PEOPLE. ANYHOO, at the moment Taylor is planning to release the book Rip My Scars, a sort of Sci-Fi/Magitek/Fantasy story about two men in a different world. One is universally hated, and the other universally crafty. They catch themselves together by capriciousness, more than anything, and get wrapped up in a sadistic plot to... etc. I got an early look at it and I must say that I was enraptured. The whole book is written in first person by August, the protagonist, which is sometimes a distracting storytelling form to me, but in this case it lends itself to the story well and really allows the reader to step into his shoes and deepens the emotional impact. The relationships are written well and overall I find myself enjoying learning bits about the world that's being built around me as I read. Taylor's book is now available on Amazon for a few bucks and is worth your time. Find the link to it at his website www.taylorcortre.weebly.com
